These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Acta mobile application and website (the "Service") operated by Nico Gregori ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Acta provides AI-curated news summaries, personalised audio briefings, AI-generated podcasts, and an AI chat assistant powered by third-party AI models. Content is generated algorithmically and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Acta is not a news publisher — we aggregate and summarise content from third-party sources and present it for informational purposes only.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By creating an account you represent that you meet this age requirement.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service
• Scrape, crawl, or use automated means to access the Service beyond its intended interfaces
• Circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or subscription tier restrictions
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
• Upload or transmit malicious code, spam, or harmful content through the chat feature
• Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit content generated by the Service without our written permission

5. AI-Generated Content

Summaries, briefings, podcasts, and chat responses are generated by artificial intelligence. While we strive for accuracy, we make no warranty that AI-generated content is accurate, complete, unbiased, or suitable for any particular purpose. You should verify important information from authoritative sources before relying on it.

AI-generated content does not constitute professional advice (financial, legal, medical, or otherwise).

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, brand, and original content, is owned by us and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. News content summarised by Acta remains the property of its respective publishers.

You retain ownership of any content you submit (e.g., chat messages). By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to process your content solely to provide and improve the Service.

7. Subscriptions & Payments

Paid subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Payment terms, billing, renewal, and cancellation are governed by our Billing Terms and the applicable store's terms. Please review the Billing Terms carefully before subscribing.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, engage in abusive behaviour, or if required by law. Upon termination:

• Your access to the Service will cease immediately
• Your personal data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy
• Any active subscription will continue until the end of the current billing period (no mid-cycle refund unless required by law)

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from harmful components.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claims arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or £50, whichever is greater.

We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

11. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer in the EU, you retain any mandatory protections provided by the law of your country of residence.

EU consumers may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will give you at least 30 days' notice of material changes via email or an in-app notification. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
