Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 26 March 2026
This policy explains how to cancel your Acta subscription and how refunds are handled. It should be read together with our Billing Terms and Terms & Conditions.
1. How to Cancel Your Subscription
You can cancel your subscription at any time. Because subscriptions are managed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, you must cancel through the respective platform:
Cancel on iPhone / iPad (Apple)
- Open the Settings app on your device
- Tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions
- Find Acta and tap it
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm
Cancel on Android (Google Play)
- Open the Google Play Store app
- Tap your profile icon, then tap Payments & subscriptions
- Tap Subscriptions
- Find Acta and tap Cancel subscription
Cancel via the Acta App
- Go to Settings → Account → Manage Subscription
- This will redirect you to your device's subscription management page
Important: Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription. You must follow the steps above to stop future charges.
2. What Happens When You Cancel
- Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period
- You will not be charged again after cancellation
- Once the billing period ends, your account will revert to the Free plan
- Your data (topics, briefing history, chat history) will be retained — you can re-subscribe at any time to regain paid features
3. Refund Policy
Within 14 Days (UK & EU Consumers)
Under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations and EU Consumer Rights Directive, you have the right to a refund within 14 days of your initial subscription purchase if you have not used the paid features. Because digital content begins immediately upon subscription, you acknowledge that you may lose this right once you start using paid features — however, we will consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis within this period.
General Refund Requests
Since all payments are processed by Apple or Google, refund requests are handled by the respective store:
- Apple: Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com
- Google Play: Request a refund through the Google Play subscriptions page or contact Google Play support
We will cooperate with the app store on refund requests and will approve refunds where we are able to do so. If the store denies your request and you believe you are entitled to a refund, contact us directly and we will review your case.
When We Will Issue a Refund
- Service outage that prevented you from using paid features for a significant portion of your billing period
- Duplicate charges or billing errors
- You were charged after following the cancellation steps correctly
- Any situation where a refund is required by applicable consumer protection law
Free Trial Refunds
If you were charged after a free trial and did not intend to continue, please request a refund from the app store as soon as possible. We recommend cancelling free trials at least 24 hours before they expire to avoid being charged.
4. Canadian Consumers
Canadian consumers are entitled to cancel digital subscriptions within the timeframe set out by applicable provincial consumer protection legislation. The cancellation and refund process follows the same steps as above.
